Supreme Chancellor Kina Cancri was born on the planet Mirial five years before the Sith Empires' first strikes against the Republic. Her homeworld occupied for two years by the Empire before being retaken by the Republic. In that time Cancri's father, who was a republic logistical officer was captured, tortured and killed by the Sith Lord, Darth Malgus.
Her mother brought Kina to Coruscant, where she entered the Diplomatic Core when she was 18, eventually becoming a Senatorial aid and then an aid for the Supreme Chancellor, Gelana Rans. Rans eventually stepped down from her office, naming Kina Cancri as her interim replacement until an election could be held.
When Cancri accepted the Sith Emperor's sue for peace, she was officially elected as Supreme Chancellor of the Republic. Three months after her formal appointment, Cancri ordered the orbital bombardment of Dromund Kaas and Korriban, the last two Sith Bastion worlds. Breaking the treaty, she named Emperor Vowrawn, the Sith Dark Council, and the renegade Darth Malgus war criminals and issued orders blockading the Stygian Cauldera, imposing heavy tariffs on the region in an attempt to destabilize the remaining Sith worlds.
